Oras Tynkkynen

I am running for the European Parliament because I believe in the potential of Europe. Europe can benefit Finland, and Finland can benefit Europe – more than we see today.

I currently serve as a Member of Parliament and as the Vice-Chair of the Green Parliamentary Group. I received my Master of Social Sciences, and prior to my work in Parliament, I worked as a journalist.

Over the past few years, I have served as a climate policy specialist in the Prime Minister’s Office, Chair of the Green Parliamentary Group and Vice-Chair of the Green Party. I have been a Member of Parliament for nearly a decade and a member of the Tampere City Council since 2000.

I have participated extensively in international climate negotiations, attending 14 UN climate conferences since the Kyoto Conference in 1997. Overall I have travelled to more than 50 countries.

I was born in Jyväskylä, but for the past 20 years I have lived in Tampere. I have also lived in Helsinki and New Delhi, India. Apart from Finnish, I speak fluent English and decent Swedish. I have also studied German, Japanese and French.

If you want to learn more about me, have a look at my resume or the Wikipedia article. I have also written some articles and essays in English. Read also more about the issues in my election campaign.
